General prohibition of
Drones / remote-controlled model aircraft
1:General prohibition
The operation of unmanned aircraft systems (drones and other remote-controlled model aircraft) is generally prohibited on the entire castle grounds*. This prohibition is based on both statutory and private law provisions (see section 2).
In order to avert dangers for visitors and employees in the interest of the duty to ensure traffic safety and to ensure the protection of cultural property, Lichtenstein Castle, as the private owner of the entire castle area*, has issued this ban. On this basis, the castle administration will report any violations.
The ban applies to all unmanned aircraft systems and model aircraft, regardless of their size, weight or insurance coverage.
The background to this ban is the significant increase in unannounced drone ascents and the associated increased risk of accidents.
* The entire castle area includes: all structural buildings of Lichtenstein Castle including the outbuildings and park facilities of Lichtenstein Castle.

Noflights over crowds
Flights with unnamed aircraft systems over crowds of people are prohibited by law. Lichtenstein Castle has over 300,000 visitors every year, which is why Lichtenstein Castle is generally always considered a place with crowds of people. For this reason, flights with unmanned aerial systems over the entire castle grounds* are prohibited by law.
Prohibition of private owner
Lichtenstein Castle is privately owned by H.S.H. Duke of Urach.By pronouncing a ban on the operation of unmanned aircraft systems on the entire castle grounds*, H.S.H. Duke of Urach is exercising his private right. In the event of non-compliance, the castle administration will file a complaint.
Approaches, bypasses or overflights from greater distances
By law, the pilot of an unmanned aircraft system must always be able to see his remotely piloted aircraft with his own eye during flight so clearly that he can reliably identify the flight paths of the aircraft. A small dot in the sky is not considered a clear indication of the aircraft. The navigation of the aircraft via an optical visual aid – for example, via a display that reproduces the camera image of the drone – is prohibited by law. The operation of unmanned aircraft systems is prohibited on the entire castle grounds* by decision of the owner (H.S.H. Duke of Urach). The next possible start or At a distance of 1000 to 2000 metres from Lichtenstein Castle, landing sites outside the private castle area* are far beyond the maximum visibility within which a pilot is allowed to control his aircraft. It is therefore not permitted to fly to, around or over Lichtenstein Castle from a greater distance.
* The entire castle area includes: all structural buildings of Lichtenstein Castle including the outbuildings and park facilities of Lichtenstein Castle.
